What's happening in your garden today?

I got tiered of waiting on my Soil Test to come back so I mixed up some got 4 different kinds of Tomato Seeds started.

Once again looked at Radar oh going to rain. So I got the Tiller in and got some buckets of rain water I had collected in my barrel, buckets put back to catch. Nothing. Story of life here.

Called the grow house in the city see if they had Perlite they did so go there and get some.

Propagating curry trees, my Venus fly trap successfully digested its food and released the desiccated husk of the meal worm. I got a zillion potato sprouts in the greenhouse grow bags. My hippie harvest is April 9th, next two gens already seeded in my new grow tent. Pot up the peppers all tonight and tomorrow. Drop the next batches of seeds for starters (for donating to the local food bank). Shifting focus to green chiles now.

I decided I'd "attack" this area today under the acer in front of the tea-house.

I had to do some shopping this morning, so I made an extra eight-mile round trip to the "local" garden centre, for a couple of rolls of turf.

"We don't sell turf."

"You mean you don't sell turf any more, because you did sell it, a year ago."

So I had to go to B&Q near the Trafford Centre.

They had two half-pallets of rolls of turf outside, that was reduced to half price. I guess it'd been there for at least a week. But I managed to drag out a couple of rolls at the bottom, which were still a bit damp. I'd brought an old curtain with me to in which to wrap them, so I didn't get soil in the boot of my car.

They didn't look too bad.

I gave them a brush.

P1020759.webp

The turned them over and scarified the backs with my fine tyne lawn rake.

Prepared the area.

P1020760.webp

Laid the turf, then spread a mixture of top-soil and grass seed along the joints.

Hammered it down with a bit of 3" x 2" and my lump hammer.

Replaced the acer training wires.

P1020762.webp

Gave it a good watering.

I'm hopeful, that it will take, but it will get a feed tomorrow and daily check for a few weeks. If it doesn't, I'm only out, six and a half quid.

I've a few bits left over that will do for patching in a few areas. But that can wait until tomorrow, as it started to rain.

Why do you have a filter in your Grow Tent.

I'm building a Grow Room and no filter but I'm not afraid of smell.

I have the filter because the grow tent is in my girlfriend's remote work office (it was there before her office). She is a marketing something something and works from a desk. It can get a bit nauseating actually when you're just sitting in it for 8 hours.

Like I say I'm building a Grow Room mainly because of dealing with Zippers.

I fixed up a regular Exhaust Fan with adjustments. Decided not to have a Filter.

But I'm growing Marijuana and have a Cop down wind but it is legal here and you can smell it anyway at his place.

Before you put this old Stoner down I'm to take Hydrocodone every four hours. Marijuana helps a bunch.

Carry on vegetables I have found there is many ways to start them much cheaper.

Says the guy with a Greenhouse. I have acquired big Tropicals that like it.

Planted Pepper Seed .

Went to Doctor their pretty sure I'm going to die.

Really they think I have couple strokes going to check my head out. Hope they stop this wind blowing around.

Mom took me to a Candy Store well Grow Shop. She only let me buy a few things. Spent $155.

Just a couple of hours of general garden housekeeping.

I mowed the small front lawn. It always suffers where the azaleas shade it around the perimeter, a band of about a foot in depth. I gave it a feed and it may need some iron sulphate at the week-end as there's a small amount of moss.

The big acer tree has a lot of buds on it. This is despite me taking 12" off it all the way round and on top in the winter to stop it getting too big.

P1020771.webp

Gave my Flymo a bit of a service before mowing the lawn.
The lawn in the back garden is recovering, I mowed it all except where there's the new turf, which seems to be taking. I'm watering that twice a day. The rest benefitted from me leaving the two pop-up sprinklers on for a while.

Hard to see the "join" where the new turf starts.
The acer palmatum's leaves are progressing at a pace.

This little acer is doing its best despite the drastic haircut I gave it a week ago.

P1020779.webp

The blossom on this quince is now fully out.

P1020776.webp

I put another containing wire around these three azaleas. They've been there for ten years. They want to spread out and shade the grass next to the brick circle and attract moss. I want them to grow upwards and hide the Sambucus's big plastic tub.
I'm winning!

P1020782.webp

I've removed the containing wires that encourage this wisteria to cascade.

P1020783.webp

My wife bought this blue-tit feeder from "her" shopping channel a year ago. It wasn't cheap, but it's well-made. We had it hanging from the pergola over the French windows, but they didn't want to know. They used the feeder under the azaleas with the rest of the small birds.
So I've moved it here in this pergola, maybe they'll like it there better.

P1020784.webp

This acer palmatum Taylor is doing well. The leaves are all the same colour at the moment but later, they will go, yellow, green and pink.

P1020772.webp

I'm pleased to say that there's no sign of blackspot on the roses, they still have patches of white on some leaves, it's the residue of the sulphur.

Went to the Greenhouse wonder what kind of trouble I can get into?

First off took some Purple Heart cuttings and put them in Hanging Pots. Potted some Snake Plants and Thanksgiving Cactus.

Checked some Petunias dang think I will put some in bigger pots. Got to messing with them man they have some roots,so I Potted all them.

Got to looking at long range forecast and supposed to get bunch of rain finally. But supposed to snow.

Maybe I was right holding off getting Tomatoes and Peppers for sale. My wife said it really won't get warm until May. We actually had a freeze middle of May last year. Anyway I'm sure bunch got in a hurry and planted.
