Amaryllis anyone?

Does anyone have experience with growing Amaryllis from seeds? I was at my local bank, and they had one that was bursting seed pods. The teller gave me the seeds, and now I want to grow them. I was a bit scared when a brief search online indicated it could take YEARS.

Yes, 3 to 5 years is what I understand.

I love them, but we grow them from bulbs. They are spectacular!!
