What's happening in your garden today?

Don't know how it is in your climate, but if I don't get peppers well started undercover in the first couple of months of the year they have trouble reaching maturity before the weather starts to deteriorate.
I'm in 6b. But know I'm running behind again.

Our last is last part of April. Last year we had a freeze in May.

Not a lot today other than some watering..."eventually."

I've a couple of double hose points. One is near the back door, it's for my Hoselock hose reel, I use it to water the front garden and another for when I want to fill a watering can.
The other is on the side of the shed. One for the other Hoselock hose reel and another for filling a watering can.
They all leaked a bit. After many years, the seals tend to go a bit on the Hoselock and similar connectors, In the end, I had to change five, as well as renewing the PTFE tape on the brass fittings.

I did check the twelve roses in their ceramic pots on this patio. Lots of buds coming and so far no sign of black spot, but it's early days.

I learned the main thing with seeds is patience they will sprout in their time.

Went and marked plants going to the city tomorrow. I looked out and seen them on a flatbed trailer. I'm going no in no way no. My wife told me no their going to put them in the Pickup when they come in. Told her I was getting too old for this.

She is taking Eggs and Embroidery Work. Told her she could take Worms she said no she didn't think they will sell.

Well we got 4 inches of rain but still in a Drought and it is going to get worse. I'm going to water until I can't afford it.

Apart from patio and path re-pointing, I'm pretty much up to date. I need to get another bag of cement and some sharp sand, before I can do any more.
I jet-washed the main patio a couple of months back but some of the pointing has gone green again, so I'll give it another go of "Wet n' Forget."

We're finally getting a bit of colour. This "Amber" clematis I bought from Taylors a few years ago. It was relatively expensive, but never disappoints. It fills the whole of this part of the fence next to the kitchen window.

It has these bell-like yellow flowers.

The ever faithful Mayleen is the first to flower of many.

The wisterias are nearly in bloom. We've seven, but they don't all come out at the same time. This part catches the early sun. The wires you can see are to prevent the huge wood pigeons sitting on the fence.
That huge branch travels from the corner of the little bed at the side of the garage, right round and over the pergola on the back of the house.

These are the first of the many azaleas.

I'm quite pleased with the way the lawn has recovered, except for the bit in constant shadow which is always a problem. It'll need some more moss treatment and during the next spell of some consecutive dry days, I'll scarify it again. But it won't fully recover until mid-summer.

My new turf is holding up well, despite the attention of a couple of squirrels who try to dig little holes in it. A couple of joins are visible, but any little clumps of grass I find growing in the borders I transplant into them, as they'll grow anywhere.

Whatever it is, in this border, is doing exceptionally well along the full length.

I would have posted yesterday but I worked until Bed time.

Watered stuff in the Greenhouse with more sun and warmer temperatures and more water. Everything is very happy.

Was going to move some things outside but 40's at night I'm still a little nervous.

Spading on my garden. I have been exercising. I fell, great no one to help me up. Set there thinking. Finally got rolled over got on my knees. Ok what you going to do? Got my Spade around, got one Leg up, got hold of my Spade, got on up.

Oh I ordered a Butterfly Bush.

Spaded until about 7:30 closed the Chickens up and went to bed.

My wife did well in the City sold several plants.

Just a bit of "garden housekeeping."

Our neighbour (who's in hospital), their garage, is parallel to ours and only 18" away. They have a load of stuff that grows over the top of their garage roof and down the other side and tries to get under the eaves of ours. So I cut it back so it's a couple of feet away from the edge of their roof.
It required a ladder at both ends and my Barnel telescopic pruner.
I filled half a green bin with the stuff I took off.

Just did a bit of watering. Particularly the wisterias.

This one on the side of the house is doing really well this year, no sign of any blooms dying off as was the case last year.

These two (they cross in the middle) are nearly out.

These are supposed to be white in the middle and blue either side.
But it looks like the white has crept into the blue at this end. But I'm not that bothered. The white is always the last to come out.

Paying for yesterday I'm hurting all over. My wife isn't feeling sorry for me.

My wife said my Aloe Vera's were dry. I said well they are Succulents so they should be ok.

Went checked them they were very dry. I guess in smaller pots they will dry out faster.

Got to go to the city taking pictures of my insides that took most the day.

So all I got done was watering most the Greenhouse.

Tomorrow if I get time stuff is going outside. Supposed to be warmer at night and rain. Got stuff wanting to goooo.
