What do you cook for New Year's Day?

Since the site is officially live, I figured I'd ask, what’s everyone's "good luck" meal for New Year's? In my house, if there isn't a pot of black-eyed peas and some cornbread, my wife thinks the whole year is cursed. Anyone doing something interesting on the grill to kick off 2026?

We usually go to my mom's to eat and, yes, we MUST eat our black-eyed peas too. Mom also usually does cabbage, cornbread, fried potatoes, and chicken fried salt pork.

Speaking of that, I'd be curious to know how many of y'all plant black-eyed peas in your fall gardens? I saw a guy mention one time that he plants black-eyed peas as a fall cover crop. He gets a few harvests off the peas, then turns the rest under to add nutrients back to the soil. Anyways, I imagine growing your own, and being able to eat them fresh, makes them taste even better than the dried ones in the store!
