Unexpected Potato

Found this at the back of the Pudding Tunnel today



I grew some potatoes in a pot there the year before last. Wasn't expecting to see one come up especially after the frost.

It might not survive the January & February frosts but I earthed it up.



And then put the cold frame on top.



It'll either die or make potatoes now, have to hope for a mild Spring

Just dug the Christmas new potatoes, not many of them but better than none

We don't normally get new potatoes here until about May time, grown in the Channel Islands where it's warmer (Almost in France) Unless they're imported from Egypt or somewhere.

Nice video! Can't wait to start growing potatoes here. We eat a load of spuds in this house.

The frost has had the tops of the ones in the cold frame but they'll grow back from the tuber
