By Monotypic I mean it's the only one in the Genus. So unlike Mammillaria for instance where there are about 250 species, there's only one Leuchtenbergia.

66' tall !! I see a skyscraper Greenhouse in your future !!There's several Monotypic ones, some don't quite fit in with the others so get a genus to themselves. They often get moved about as botanists try to classify them though.
One that springs to mind is Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis. Looks like an Opuntia but lives in the rainforest and grows a straight trunk to compete for light with the other rainforest trees. It grows 66 feet tall
This one that Captain Neem Oil is standing next to has just started to develop a trunk
