Does anyone know about raising Worms?

I'm raising African Nightcrawlers in a Tote I had Springtails, figure too much moisture so I cleaned the Castings out and threw away the bedding. But it was dryer.

Worms hated it. Put wet Bedding in. Still didn't like it put some Castings in no help, put some regular Garden Soil in and moistened all. Fed them couple times.

There is still one every so often trying to escape is this normal? Looked around and they seem happy.

Just read African Nightcrawlers it is their nature to escape.

Thinking of going back to Red Wigglers. Their Happy with less but make great Castings.

The thought of raising worms never appealed to me. I just make habitat in my garden for them and they do the rest. Not only do I get the castings, but all the other benefits, such as the tunnels to allow air and water into my soil and their dead bodies provide nutrients and many other benefits.

Raising them in a container and collecting castings and all the other maintenance that comes with a worm bin is just too much work.

Actually I think I'm spoilt. I'm looking at worms for Castings and Bait.

I have found I like Canadian Nightcrawlers but as Composting Worms I have found I like Red Wigglers.

At present I have African Nightcrawlers. Didn't know they are bad about escaping and they like to go deep. To me they are not big enough for bait.

Red Wigglers tend to stay close to the top.

I use extra Castings in my Garden mainly around Tomatoes and Peppers.
