What Causes Rust?

Last year I planted Green Beans no problems.

Same type Bean same garden had Rust. Got a Creeping Inch Plant cutting just starting to grow and I seen Rust on it.

I can't help you with that, sorry. I noticed that you tend to mulch with straw around food crops and some flowers. Is that a usual thing to be done in America or is it just choice by yourself? We rarely do that here in Britain as it tends to harbour pests and diseases.

Yes we mulch with a number of things. Keeps weeds down and the ground moist.
