Anyone have any experience with Texas Legend onions? A friend of mine has a large farm (he sells his produce at the local farmer's market) and has offered to buy me a few bundles. According to what I've read, they're a large onion, getting up to six inches in diameter, but I'm wondering about the taste.

If he's selling a ton at the farmer's market, I'd expect they're pretty good, but I was just curious if any of y'all had ever tried 'em.

About 40 + years' experience growing Texas onions...but who is counting. :(

The Texas Legend came along about 2019 advertised as an improved version of the Texas Super Sweet 1015 onion. I've grown both and in fact have several hundred plants growing right now.

It is written that the Texas legend stores better than the 1015...but I cannot tell any difference. They also say it matures faster than the 1015 onion, but I can't tell any difference. Taste yes, they say it is sweeter, but I really question that. Nothing is sweeter than 1015 onions grown in nutrient dense soil...IMO.

You can't go wrong with either one.

Thank you for the info! I'll probably get a few bundles and see how they are. These might be the same ones we put in the ground last year, but I can't remember for sure. We're not doing any red onion this year so we'll have room for a lot more of these white onions.
