I know AI is a bit controversial, and I was skeptical myself at first. However, after playing around with ideas on how AI could be beneficial to the site, I've settled on one idea I think will make life much better for members and guests alike.

We'll now be showing thread summaries at the top of thread pages which will highlight the main points being discussed within the topic. This will be useful for threads that are long or span multiple pages. The summary will provide a short context as to what's going on so the user can determine whether the thread sounds like it's worth the deep-dive to read all the replies.

Also, sometimes when someone asks a question there are a lot of different answers, sometimes spread across several different pages. The thread summaries will help by letting folks know which answers are the most recommended amongst forum members.

These will not show up everywhere. For example, right now they will not show in the news and announcements or welcome/introduction forums. Also, they won't show up where there isn't a lot of content to make a summary make sense. There's not much point in writing a summary on thread with 2-3 posts that can be read in a few seconds.

Also, please keep in mind that the AI will not change any post content. It simply reads the public replies and writes a quick summary highlighting the most important parts.

Please note this is a new feature that just rolled out today so there could be changes made to its implementation in the coming days, or weeks.

Looking forward to hearing what y'all think about this new feature.
