hard water vs soft water?

We have very hard water where I live and I grow things just fine, so I wouldn't expect it to make much of a difference. That said, because of where I live, we don't have soft water so I've never been able to try it to see if it would make a difference.

does it make a difference?
It depends on the plant and the soil it is in. Hard water contains minerals like calcium and magnesium, which can be beneficial for some plants but may lead to build-up in soil over time, affecting nutrient absorption. If the soil is already high in calcium and magnesium, adding more can be problematic. Soft water, especially if softened with sodium, can be problematic for plants, as excess sodium can harm roots and interfere with nutrient uptake.

Soil Ph can be critical to certain plants and is affected by the Ph of the water used. Rainwater is generally ph neutral and free of elements that might be problematic.
