Fungus Pictures

Certainly looks like Honey Fungus. They can carry on living on roots in the ground after the tree has gone.

I've read that they're edible but also that there may be sub species that can give you an upset tummy. I've not tried them.

Middle of winter and still the fungus is happily eating the path in the pudding tunnel

I thought I'd already put a pic of these Crampballs on here but I can't find it. Took another pic today as they've hardened off as they've matured.



Once they've dried they will hold a spark/glowing ember and were probably used for carrying fire from one camp to the next in days gone by.

I think this might be what we call in the South a Stink horn, but I'm not sure. It's doubled over, then the one side, once tall enough comes loose of the soil and stands upright.

That's how the Stinkhorn looks as it's getting bigger.
