They Don't Like Sun

Been reading most plants even some Tropicals don't like sun.

Really my garden is in a shady spot and still does fine.

Planted some Marigolds in one area they didn't like but my Crescamus like.

This year I have an area that Marigolds like which they will like this. Found some Zinnias I like they will go there to.

Most my Succulents don't like sun that much.

When I moved to the Colorado desert a year ago, I learned very quickly that "full sun" is typically referring to 6 - 8 hours/daily. I get up to 15 hours daily in June, over 7 of those hours being "peak sun" hours. At one point even my sunflowers were not doing well. (Excuse me, aren't you literally named after the sun?). I've had to learn to embrace the sun/shade in different ways than before when I lived in lush green Washington State. I'm currently tinkering with plants and my side yard, which gets 4 - 6 hours of partial/dappled sun daily.

I use those links to find my day length (total sun) and peak sun hours (total "harsh" sun).

My marigolds thrive in absolute full sun as long as they have water. I fully believe they would have died off at the matured seedling stage, once I transplanted them outside, had it not been for my drip irrigation. On the other hand, being introduced to my garden is a death sentence for cilantro. I can't seem to shade or water it enough. It has been relegated to the balcony/indoor greenhouse until I figure that whole scenario out. I also still lose entire flats of seedlings because I fail to harden them properly/long enough.

That's a big change in climate. I wouldn't be able to cope with the heat where you are now, so Washington State would have appealed more to me. I currently live just 614 miles from the Arctic Circle in the Highlands of Scotland, although I grew up in southern England.
