Dry Stone Wall

I tried to find some pics of the footings for this one but haven't got them anymore.

I had this pile of rubble left over after clearing the bit of hedge where my caravan used to be.




It was in Sis's garden and she was on holiday so I had to do something with it....

I ended up stacking it nicely



I built a recess into the middle of it called a Bee Bole but never got around to putting a Skep for the bees into it

Tetters has built a lovely dry stone wall in her garden too

That's a really nice wall. We have those all over New England because you can't put a foot down up there without there being a rock underneath your feet. You can't have a garden unless you remove the stone, build something, usually a wall with it, and some of the walls are 3' wide on top, 4-5' high and 4' wide on the bottom.

I fell off one when I was a kid and landed in a bed of poison ivy. My Gran was flipping out as we had a good 20 minute walk to get home and she was sure I'd be covered in welts since I only had shorts and a sleeveless top on.

Turns out I am not allergic to poison ivy, so I used to chase the boys with handfuls of it !!

We have walls like that in Wales Annie, go on for miles across the mountains. No poison ivy though Just Stinging nettles
