Years ago I used to run bee hives with a friend of mine, whose dad is an alfalfa farmer. His dad loved the fact we had bee hives around his alfalfa fields because he said his seed yield would be almost twice as high as the fields where there were no bees.
So, fast forward to now and I can't help but think about how useful bees must be for our gardens too. That's why, this year, my son and I have decided to get back into the bee business...ok, not really a business, but we're putting up a lone hive near the garden.
Since we'll be also putting in some peach and plum trees this year, the bees are sure to help with them too.
My question is, do any of the rest of y'all have bees in your garden? Did you notice a difference in production once you added your hive(s)?
I mean, my thinking is, even if it's not a huge benefit to the garden, and I don't see how it won't be, we'll definitely get some of the world's best honey out of the deal! When our bees are surrounded by fruit trees, a garden, and all of mom's beautiful flowers all summer long, I imagine the honey will be amazing!
