I think you are right. We have a garden waste bin collected which costs us. When I prune the laurel hedge, this takes about three bin loads. Laurel doesn't compost well and is said to have a growth inhibitor when added to compost. Xmas tree also goes in bin with brambles, rose prunings and other...
Even a shopping list would be interesting from that long ago: Bread, fish, eggs, cheese, olive oil, fruit, veg, wine ?- not much changed except the packaging! No tea, coffee or potatoes. Any baked beans?
Rainy and chilly today. A bit squishy so trying to stay off the lawn and garden. A case of long strides between stepping stones! Garlic and broad beans quite well up on veg plot - sown and planted last year. I wonder if anyone has any luck with garlic sown in January. Some arrived by post but we...

Most of the space in two window bays is taken up with about thirty overwintering pelargonium plants at this time of year. These include oak leaf, citrus and rose scented varieties plus firestorm, a white and regal pelargonium. We put them in pots outside in the summer.
Growing tomatoes and celery together does sound a very good idea that has not occurred to me before. We already grow tomatoes in greenhouses with various watering gadgets and ample feeds for nutrients. So interplanting with celery is definitely worth a try as we don't have a large requirement...
Hi Tetters
Probably a bit far for everyday coffee - just over 50 miles away. Would love to pop over sometime as I see that you are near the coast also. Maybe I would pick up a few more gardening pointers from a visit. I like to buy Fenland celery as some of our family come from that area. We...
